A Mother’s Fight for Survival: Help Maryam and Her Two Children
My name is Maryam. I am a young mother in my twenties living through the unimaginable hardships of war in Gaza. My life was turned upside down when my husband was detained during the war, leaving me alone to face the uncertainty, fear, and daily struggle of caring for our two children, Abdulrahman and Ne’ma.
Since then, I have been trying to carry the responsibilities of both parents while struggling to find the most basic necessities for my children. Displacement has taken away our sense of security and stability. Instead of growing up in a safe home, my children are facing a life of uncertainty, hunger, cold, and fear.
Every morning, I wake up wondering how I will provide our next meal. Every night, I worry about how to protect my children from the cold, whether we will have enough food the following day, and whether I can meet their needs. I try to smile whenever Abdulrahman and Ne’ma look at me, hiding my tears so they will not feel how frightened and exhausted I truly am.
But a mother cannot survive on hope alone. My children need food, clean drinking water, milk appropriate for their ages, diapers, clothing, medicine when needed, and a safe place to sleep. These are not luxuries. They are basic necessities that every child deserves.
**Why we need your help now**
Our family urgently needs assistance with everyday essentials. Food has become difficult to secure, and the cost of basic supplies places an overwhelming burden on me. If either of my children needs milk, diapers, warm clothing, or medical care, I must worry about how to afford it while still providing everything else they need.
We also need protection from the harsh weather. Our living conditions are difficult, and reliable shelter, waterproof tarpaulins, blankets, mattresses, and warm bedding would make a meaningful difference in keeping my children dry and warm.
Beyond these physical needs, I carry the pain of being separated from my husband and not knowing when our family will be together again. I dream of the day my children can sleep peacefully, eat without fear of hunger, and live in a place where they feel safe.
**How your donation can help**
I am asking for your kindness and support to help me provide for Abdulrahman and Ne’ma. Your donation can help us obtain essential groceries, bread, rice, flour, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, and other nutritious foods. It can also help cover drinking water, hygiene products, soap, shampoo, laundry supplies, and other everyday necessities.
If my children need them, donations can help cover age-appropriate milk, baby formula, diapers, wipes, and other childcare supplies. Contributions can also help us obtain clothing, shoes, warm jackets, blankets, mattresses, and bedding, as well as tarpaulins and basic materials to protect our shelter from rain and cold.
Where necessary, support may help cover medical consultations, prescribed medicines, basic healthcare, and transportation to medical services. It can also help meet essential household needs and other urgent expenses that arise while we are displaced.
Every contribution, no matter how small, can help relieve some of this burden. Even a modest donation can help provide food for a meal, diapers for my children, clean water, or a blanket to keep them warm.
I do not ask for luxury. I ask for the chance to care for my children with dignity and to give them the basic necessities they need to grow and survive.
Please stand with us during this difficult time. Your compassion can bring relief to a struggling mother, comfort to two innocent children, and hope to a family waiting for the day it can be reunited.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story, sharing our campaign, and helping us in any way you can. May every act of kindness bring us closer to a safer and more hopeful tomorrow.
