The story

From a Carpentry Workshop to a Tent… The Story of a Father Who Has Not Lost Hope

My name is Abdullah, and I am a 37-year-old father from Gaza. I used to live in Rafah, and today I live with my family in the northern Mawasi area of Khan Younis. Before the war, I worked as a furniture carpenter. I owned my own workshop and home, and I had a source of income that allowed me to live with dignity. My greatest dream was to see my children educated and successful and to build a better future for them.

But the war changed our lives completely. I lost my home and workshop, and my source of income disappeared. I now live with my family in a simple tent that cannot protect us from the harsh conditions and constantly needs repairs.

What hurts me most today is that my children have been deprived of education since the beginning of the war. My eldest daughter dreamed of becoming a doctor specializing in kidney and urinary tract diseases after witnessing her brother's suffering from kidney failure until his death. She carried a great humanitarian dream in her heart and promised herself that she would study medicine and treat patients for free, so that others would not suffer as her brother had. This was her dream and her mission, and my wish is to see her fulfill it one day.

Today, however, I cannot afford private lessons that could help my children return to learning. I have no work or income, and every day I struggle to provide food, drinking water, and the basic needs of our tent, along with formula milk and diapers for my youngest child, who is eight months old.

I am a 37-year-old father, but fear and constant worry about my children's future have left their mark on my face, as though the years of war have stolen years and dreams from both me and my children.

Despite everything I have lost, I have not given up hope of standing on my feet again, seeing my children continue their education, and allowing them to experience childhood with dignity and safety.

I am sharing my story to give my children a new opportunity. Your support may help us provide our basic needs, secure formula milk and diapers, repair our tent, and open a window of hope for children who have been deprived of their most basic rights.

I am Abdullah from Gaza. I lost my home and my work, but I still dream of a future for my children and of seeing my daughter become a doctor one day, fulfilling the promise she made to herself for her brother and helping patients who cannot afford the cost of treatment.
