My name is Mohammed Hamato. I am 19 years old & I am a young man from Gaza, who has lived through devastation that I never imagined I would witness in my lifetime. When the war began, everything changed overnight. My family of seven, my parents, my brother & my 3 sisters & myself, were forced to flee our home with nothing but the clothes on our back. We have no money, no work & barely any food to live on. Every day has been a struggle to survive. We live with hunger & fear. We have been displaced multiple times, moving from one area to another, searching for safety - but nowhere is safe in Gaza. Eventually we settled in a fragile worn-out tent in southern Gaza. We are cold, the tent does not shield us from the cold, heat, wind & rain. Nights are freezing, every gust of wind brings fear that our tent might collapse. We live with fear & constant hunger, the future is uncertain. We have recently returned to our home, but what I saw broke me. Our home is destroyed. The walls of my home are gone. There is no door to open, no room to step into. It was as if the place that held all my memories had been erased from the world. We are now trying to rebuild our lives from nothing. With a family of 7 to care for, it is not easy. There is no employment, no income & food prices are very high, impossible to afford. We struggle every day just to find enough to eat. We want to rebuild a small portion of our home, but we need tarp so that we can have some protection from the elements. Today, on behalf of my family, I am reaching out for help. I am asking for support, any support would be welcome. I want to be able to buy food for my family & to be able to build a small space for my family. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference to us. It can provide us with warmth & sustenance. Your kindness will help us to stand again.
